What Does $347k Per Baptism Mean? « man.of.depravity
I can’t believe this number. It sort of underlines my feelings that the American church is way out of sync with the rest of the world. We are like the Pharisees that travel all over the world to make a convert and then make him twice as evil as they are. We are just busy playing church and not doing the work of Christ. It amazes me what Pastor Benoit is able to accomplish with much less than what we have in America. What is the American church about? How do we get back to the gospel?

Volition
Unvarnished has a link to a provocative movie about slavery, the Holocaust and abortion. I think it is very well done and helps to promote a dialogue on the issues surrounding abortion. Take a look. Take time to pray.

Numbers 21:4-9
Psalm 107:1-3, 17-22
Ephesians 2:1-10
John 3:14-21
In some ways this is a follow up to last week: Christ is the action that saves. Paul here states that we are dead in our sin. There is nothing that we can do to gain life. Yes, we may be the living dead, zombies so to speak but there is no way for life to be grasped by us. Thus the action of bringing us back to life must be from outside our beings.
Paul goes on to explain that God has done the work of bringing us back to life so that we can do good works. The difference between Christianity and other world systems could be that Christianity says “God has changed you, now live differently”, while other systems say “Live differently and you will be changed”. I know I am making some sweeping generalities that may not be totally true about other world systems. Please excuse me for that. But Paul’s argument is that we are changed through the work of Christ and thus we do good deeds.
